It's your call: Do you trust Tony Blair?

Iraq has become the dominant theme of the second half of the general election campaign.

Tony Blair told the House of Commons in March 2003 that there was an imminent threat from weapons of mass destruction which justified war.

We now know that he had only the scantiest evidence for this but he said it was credible and authoritative. And of course there were no weapons of mass destruction.

Liberal Democrats said at the time and still say that the war was illegal. Finally we can now read the Attorney-General's detailed assessment of the legality of going to war. It is finely balanced between reasons for and reasons against.

The cabinet was not given the chance to read this assessment. Tony Blair told the House of Commons that the Attorney-General was unequivocal on the legality of the war

We can now also be fairly sure that Tony Blair and George Bush decided to go to war in the summer of 2002. They spent the next 9 months "manufacturing" the intelligence and the legal case to justify their decision.

Britain's moral authority in the world has been damaged by the action of our government.

It's time to restore trust in politicians. Vote for the only party which was united in opposing the war. Every single Liberal Democrat MP voted against the war. Labour and Conservative MPs voted both for and against the war. Michael Howard voted for the war and has said he would still do so today.
