Ed Davey MP, Liberal Democrat spokesman for local government, has today revealed the rate of local income tax which would replace Council Tax.

Liberal Democrats have been campaigning to scrap the unfair Council Tax since last year's double digit increases which were particularly unfair to pensioners and others on fixed incomes.

Ed has disclosed that an increase of just 3.75 pence in the pound for everyone who currently pays income tax would allow Council Tax to be scrapped. Many pensioners who pay no income tax would have nothing to pay, saving some of them hundreds of pounds a year.
